Features: This book is specifically designed for foreign readers who have learned more than 800 Chinese words. It selects a total of 504 words, all of which are carefully chosen from daily spoken language, basic reading materials, and the listening and reading sections of the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) Chinese Proficiency Test. These words are characterized by their specific, figurative meanings that go beyond their literal interpretations, while also having a high practical frequency in spoken Chinese. For example, words like "" (unexpected trouble), "" (outstanding), and "" (valuable). Most learners of Chinese recognize these characters, but they often struggle to articulate their exact meanings. These words frequently appear in everyday conversation, being vivid and expressive, which makes them particularly interesting and appealing to foreign learners of Chinese. However, there is currently no book that specifically explains how to use such words. The compilers of this book were motivated by this need to help Chinese learners improve their language proficiency and expand their vocabulary more effectively. All the words in this book are presented in example sentences, with explanations in both Chinese and English. Additionally, they are demonstrated through examples and dialogues, used repeatedly from different perspectives to reinforce readers' understanding and retention. The example sentences are annotated with Pinyin for self-study convenience.
