Publish Date: 2004-08-01
Features: This book is a comprehensive and innovative revision of previously used teaching materials on mechanical engineering design fundamentals, based on the reform of the teaching system and the author's years of teaching experience. The content is both substantial and concise, employing a case-based teaching approach. The computer software selected is "CAXA Electronic Drawing," a domestically developed and licensed product known for its ease of use and quick learning curve. Many examples are derived from teaching materials, aligning with teaching principles and meeting teaching requirements. It is believed that this book will significantly contribute to improving the quality of teaching in this course. The book is divided into four parts with a total of 21 chapters, covering the following main content:
1. Engineering Drawing: Introduces fundamental knowledge such as drawing standards, mechanical part drawings, and mechanical assembly drawings.
2. Computer Drawing: Introduces basic methods of using computers to create engineering drawings and mastering the operation of one drawing software.
3. Engineering Materials and Mechanics Fundamentals: Primarily introduces the basic properties of common metallic materials and their heat treatment concepts, as well as the fundamental knowledge of engineering statics and material mechanics.
4. Mechanical Transmission and Design: Introduces concepts such as mechanical transmission, mechanical accuracy, and forms of mechanical failure.
The Engineering Drawing section is accompanied by a problem set, while other chapters include exercises. The Mechanical Design section features discussion questions for presentations. An appendix is provided at the end of the book.
This book can serve as a teaching text for students in engineering disciplines with fewer credit hours (e.g., industrial design, engineering management, automatic control, electrical engineering, etc.) and as a reference for engineering professionals.
