This book is written based on the higher requirements of the "College English Curriculum Requirements," including the active and cognitive vocabulary that students need to master. In recent years, there are countless vocabulary books or memory guides for college English, but few truly teach students scientific and systematic memory methods. To address this, we have gathered experienced teachers and researchers who have long been dedicated to teaching on the front lines. Based on psychological and pedagogical theories, they have carefully studied memory patterns and summarized a scientific and practical memory method—the "Dual-Code Memory Method." During the writing process, we imitated the way teachers explain vocabulary in class, ensuring both systematicity in the vocabulary lists and the effectiveness of dual-code memory. First, we list word entries and root words, systematically expanding vocabulary vertically. By memorizing each root word, students can expand all related words into a chain, achieving the first round of dual-code memory. Then, we list associative words, systematically expanding vocabulary horizontally by grouping words with similar, related, or identical meanings into another chain. This allows students to build on their initial understanding of the words, achieving the second round of dual-code memory. Practical evidence shows that the dual-code memory method aligns with human memory patterns, offering more scientific, practical, and lasting results compared to simple rote memorization. We do not focus solely on the dual application of vocabulary but enhance dual-code memory through contextual reinforcement. For this reason, we have strengthened the content of word meaning differentiation, providing detailed comparative studies of some visually similar and near-synonymous words. Using recent CET-6 exam questions as examples, we strive to combine practicality with exam preparation.
