There is no absolute success, nor is there eternal success. Life is still long. Temporary flowers, thumbs-up, applause—they only bring you temporary affirmation. After the temporary joy, it should be the beginning of another stage; otherwise, it’s just a fleeting moment. Many people, however, become complacent in joy, overwhelmed by success. When doing anything, maintaining a moderate reserve and a calm, ordinary mindset is very important. Diligence and high self-expectations are virtues, but once they reach an extreme of dryness, suffering, and perfection, they become excessive demands. This not only fails to bring benefits to self-cultivation but also leaves one in a bad mood. The greatest, most earth-shaking, and soul-stirring love in the world is to give to others without expecting anything in return, even giving one’s own life. You must learn how to get along with different people, or you will always encounter people you dislike and be left helpless. Practice how to get along with people you don’t like, even if you still don’t agree with some things that go against your principles. But you must learn not to take things too seriously, to try to see the good side of things, and to try to turn opposition into parallelism.
