Features: The Agitated Autumn is a long novel that reflects the profound changes in rural landscapes and interpersonal relationships under the impact of the tide of commodity economy. The Agitated Autumn not only depicts the various agitations stirred up by Yue Pengcheng, a "farmer reformer," in transforming his hometown: from the attention of leaders at the provincial and county levels to the social publicity by national and provincial newspapers, from the ancient legend of Li Longshan to the inscriptions of Yue Pengcheng and the name of Da Sangyuan on the stele in the back hall of Li Wang Temple. At the same time, it also emphasizes the inner agitations of Yue Pengcheng, the conflicts between him and his son, Liaoguan, due to their differing views on reform, the emotional entanglement with Qiuling leading to conflicts with his wife and intensifying family disputes; his bold, decisive, and visionary approach to handling issues in reform indeed brought significant development to township enterprises. However, under the impact of the commodity economy, he was indeed influenced by unhealthy social customs and engaged in illegal activities, such as selling scarce materials for profit.
