Features: "East, West, North, and South, come to Guangdong for wealth" is a popular saying in recent years. Currently, many people from other provinces come to Guangdong to work, and many foreigners come to Guangzhou to invest and do business. "A workman must first sharpen his tools before he begins his work." They all hope to learn some Cantonese and master this tool of language to better communicate with locals and help their own development—this book is written for those in urgent need. Based on our experience, to learn a language well, one must first master its pronunciation, then acquire a certain number of common words, and finally practice repeatedly.
First, the introduction of pronunciation should be both comprehensive and concise. The editors have meticulously designed explanations and exercises for initials, final sounds, and tones, as well as various forms of practice (otherwise, saying "yào yóu jī" instead of "yào jiǎo jī" or "wěn dì fù" instead of "wěn dǐ kù" would be a "big deal.").
Second, the dialogue section is the highlight. Based on the need for "emergency use," we have developed 20 topics, each featuring 40 commonly used sentences. The text is mostly in single-sentence format, with a few being Q&A pairs, to give readers greater flexibility and enable them to use the language spontaneously and flexibly.
Finally, the book is supported by other elements in each lesson (such as practical notes, expansion exercises, substitution exercises, Cantonese-Mandarin homophones and heterophones, self-translation tests and answers, etc., which are the book's features) and a recording of authentic and pure Cantonese pronunciation. We hope this will help readers quickly master common Cantonese.
