Entering the 21st century, the Ministry of Education issued the new compulsory education curriculum standards. The publication of experimental textbooks for compulsory education under the guidance of this new curriculum standard is an important sign of the deepening of educational reform in China. According to the planning and arrangements of the Ministry of Education, the experimental textbooks for compulsory education curriculum standards have been published. The new textbooks give a fresh and innovative feel, adhering to the requirements of the new era and the concept of quality-oriented education, striving to reflect new views on curriculum, textbooks, teaching, and learning. With the focus on cultivating students' innovative spirit and practical abilities, and with the goal of improving students' comprehensive qualities, their use is bound to be warmly welcomed by teachers and students. How to deeply understand the new curriculum standards and how to improve students' qualities, especially their ability to explore independently, have become urgent new issues to address. The writing of this series of books is a new attempt in this regard. Based on a careful study and discussion of the new curriculum standards, we have compiled the experience of exploratory learning in recent years, combined with the content of the new textbooks, to concretize the basic concepts and requirements of the new curriculum standards. This is beneficial not only for students to learn the new textbooks but also for them to improve their own qualities and abilities. This series of books strives to highlight the following characteristics:
First, the modernity and openness of the content. Modern society is an open society, but many previous textbooks and supplementary materials were outdated and monotonous, no longer suitable for current circumstances and students' needs. Therefore, this series of books has been enriched with many fresh elements, fully considering students' existing experiences, interests, and needs, and widely utilizing multimedia and other information resources. This makes the content of the books novel and vivid, effectively stimulating students' interest in learning.
Second, emphasizing autonomy and exploration. The new curriculum standards place great emphasis on cultivating students' exploratory abilities, and the new textbooks also focus on selecting and updating basic knowledge and skills. On this basis, they place greater emphasis on improving students' comprehensive qualities and innovative and practical abilities. Therefore, this series of books includes both training for autonomy to help students build a solid foundation and cultivate the awareness of independent learning, as well as the development of exploratory abilities. Through content close to daily life and diverse presentation methods, students can gain new knowledge and experiences through exploration, thereby comprehensively improving their qualities and abilities.
Third, focusing on the integration of different subjects, providing more background information, and emphasizing the connections between knowledge in different subjects. In the process of transfer and expansion, efforts are made to integrate knowledge points into an organic whole.
