Features: With the development of language, there must be new dictionaries to reflect the changes; with the revision and addition of national norms and standards, there must be dictionaries to embody them. As a country with a large population, we should have various dictionaries of different levels and scales to meet the needs of the masses in language learning and teaching. Therefore, I also feel the need to organize efforts to compile a new modern Chinese dictionary with distinctive features. This dictionary has the following characteristics:
1. It includes standardized words and reflects the basic state of modern Chinese vocabulary today.
2. The meanings of words are arranged in the order of the development of word meanings.
3. The meanings of polysemous words are arranged as much as possible according to the context of meaning extension and development.
4. It marks word classes for the convenience of readers' application.
5. Example sentences and example words are the flesh and blood of dictionaries, and are essential linguistic materials for helping readers understand and grasp word meanings. The issue of the standardization and representativeness of word selection can now be addressed through the use of computers and corpus for word frequency analysis and statistics.
