Features: Research on foreign Marxist philosophy has been a topic I have been concerned with since the mid-1980s. In the process of my specialized research on this topic, it can also be clearly divided into two heterogeneous stages: One is the early period when I criticized and refuted Western Marxism in a simplified attitude within the framework of traditional philosophical interpretation. This is mainly manifested in a small book I published in 1990 titled "Broken Wings of Reason – A Critique of Western Marxist Philosophy," as well as my early writings and several published academic papers. Now, it appears that my academic platform at that research stage was clearly unscientific, as I neither deeply understood the texts of Marxist philosophy nor had a profound understanding of contemporary Western philosophy. When I repeatedly used the terms "wrong" and "critique," the credibility of my arguments was self-evident. More importantly, I did not truly possess scientific research methods. The second new research stage began after I completed the theoretical project of "Returning to Marx," with the exact time being 1998. At this point, I had preliminarily completed the historical research work of "Returning to Marx," and I had also acquired the method of textual interpretation. This also allowed me to enter a new research stage in the field of foreign Marxist philosophy. This book is part of the "Contemporary Chinese Philosophers Series" and is mainly a study of Marxist philosophy.
