1. This book is divided into two parts: The first part provides a general overview of the "Western Marxism" proposition, titled "Turning Back, She Was in the Dimly Lit Corridor—Exploring the Contemporary Significance of the 'Western Marxism' Proposition"; the second part elaborates on each of the "Western Marxism" propositions collected in this book.
2. This book collects 411 theoretical viewpoints of "Western Marxism." Each proposition is accompanied by a description ranging from 500 to 1,000 words. These descriptions are broadly divided into two aspects: exposition and commentary.
3. The 411 propositions are categorized into eight disciplines based on their content: Marxism, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Science of Science, Economics, Aesthetics, and Ethics. It must be noted that this categorization is quite arbitrary, as many propositions are difficult to be assigned to a specific discipline.
4. "Western Marxism" is a highly controversial concept, and there is no consensus on which figures can be considered its representatives.
5. Some propositions in this book are directly taken from foreign works, but the majority are derived from Chinese works, including both translations of original texts by Chinese scholars and academic monographs written by Chinese scholars.
6. The 411 propositions collected here are only a small part of the vast number of propositions in "Western Marxism," and it is inevitable that some have been omitted.
7. This book includes two indexes: One is arranged alphabetically by the names of the proposers in Western alphabetical order, and the other is arranged by the first character of the propositions in Pinyin.
