Features: In the fall of 2001, Beijing Foreign Studies University introduced the English Translation Qualification Examination. A Concise Course in English-Chinese Translation was specially compiled at the invitation of the university to support this examination. The structure of the book This book consists of two main parts: "Texts" and "English-Chinese Language Contrast." The Texts section is divided into 10 units, covering 10 areas such as stories, history, geography, economics, culture, literature (I), literature (II), popular science, law, and speeches. Each unit includes one English-to-Chinese translation lesson and one Chinese-to-English translation lesson. Within each lesson, there are comparative readings and exercises, accompanied by hints and explanations. Some hints and explanations are marked with an asterisk (★), as they hold general significance for understanding or translation and should be paid special attention by readers. Additionally, each lesson features a special column introducing relevant theories and knowledge of translation.
