Features: The Broken Ghost is a detective mystery novel released by author Zhao Qun. Centered around a murder case that occurs in Japan, it introduces Chinese youth Luo Xinyu and gradually unfolds the destinies of Shanghai girls Tao Ping and Gong Yuqing during their studies in Japan, tracing the clues of the bloody case. The novel is set against the backdrop of several Chinese individuals who went to Japan before the Cultural Revolution (were abducted to Japan), after the Cultural Revolution (defected to Japan), and during the Reform and Opening Up (went to Japan as part of the "foreign internship" program). It weaves the fate of these Chinese youth in Japan, including their love stories, around the clues of the murder case, vividly depicting the hypocrisy, violence, greed, lust, and indifference of Japanese society. The novel cleverly constructs a historical mystery, leaving readers with ample room for imagination. The story structure is clear, the plot well-paced, the writing fluid, and the themes thought-provoking. Author Zhao Qun is a veteran of the 1967 Cultural Revolution and worked as a translator in foreign affairs departments. He was sent to a Japanese company by FESCO. In 1996, he joined a Japanese research institution, and in 2000, he enrolled in Peking University's MBA program. This book is his first novel and was awarded the Gold Medal by the "Yamaguchi Genkyo Society Literary Committee" for its recommendation to the Japan Mystery Writers' Club.
