Shitao (1642-1707), (1642~1707), originally a member of the Ming imperial family, experienced family tragedy before reaching the age of ten and subsequently shaved his head to become a monk, wandering. Throughout his life, he traveled extensively to famous mountains and rivers, painting and sketching, "searching for all the peaks to draft from," becoming one of the most creative masters of the Ming and Qing dynasties. His paintings feature innovative compositions, profound artistic connotations, flowing brushwork like dragons, and unrestrained, dynamic energy. Shitao left behind many masterpieces, such as the "Draft from Searching for All the Peaks," which is vast, majestic, and awe-inspiring; the "Adding Color to the River and Mountains," with unrestrained brushwork and rich ink tones; and the "Eight Great Views of Huangshan," which uses a cutting method to capture scenes, with extraordinary clouds, mountains, and rocks, and ink that flows like water. This art book selects and presents Shitao's masterpieces, each accompanied by information such as the title, commentary, creation date, material, dimensions, painting technique, collector, and influence index, making it extremely valuable. The book features a novel design, exquisite text, and an introductory section titled "Getting Closer to Chinese Painting," which provides readers with knowledge about Chinese painting in terms of painting techniques, appreciation, and collection, as well as guidance on using the book.
