Features: Economic Mathematics Methods and Models is a foundational course for economics and management programs, with many universities offering courses such as Mathematical Modeling and Financial Modeling. Currently, there are numerous textbooks on economic mathematics methods. These textbooks often share a common characteristic: although titled "Economic Mathematics Methods," they primarily focus on explaining the mathematical system, with little connection to economic modeling. In form, they directly apply mathematical formulas and symbols, yet simplistically regard this as the application of mathematics in economics. As a result, even after completing these textbooks, students struggle to apply them effectively to economic theory and practice.
As teachers with years of experience in teaching mathematical methods and mathematical modeling, we have observed that economic research greatly relies on mathematical methods. However, existing teaching reference materials do not fully meet the needs of economics and management programs. Through years of teaching practice, we have accumulated some experience and achieved good teaching outcomes. We have now compiled our lecture notes and dedicated them to our students and fellow educators who share our passion for exploration.
This book, based on our years of teaching experience and tailored to the characteristics of finance and economics programs, takes mathematical methods involved in economics as the main thread and classic examples of their application in economics as models. It comprehensively summarizes the use of various mathematical methods in the economic field, making it an ideal textbook for finance and economics students seeking a blend of theory and practice.
