Features: The book is divided into ten volumes, covering categories such as palace construction, imperial mausoleums, royal gardens, literati gardens, folk residential buildings, Buddhist architecture, Taoist architecture, Islamic architecture, ceremonial architecture, and city defense construction. Each volume is roughly divided into six parts: essays, color illustrations, illustration captions, appendices, architectural glossary, and chronology. The essays elaborate on the historical background, development, and architectural characteristics of various types of buildings, supplemented by images. The color illustrations are generally arranged by architectural distribution regions or chronological order. The book includes approximately 1,700 exquisite color images (including illustrations for the essays). The illustration captions are organized by illustration number, providing a brief overview of the location, construction period, and artistic and technical features of each building. The appendices include structural diagrams, floor plans, reconstruction drawings, historical evolution charts, and comparative charts of architectural types. Additionally, there are distribution maps and guide maps, marking the locations of famous buildings and surrounding scenic spots. The glossary is arranged by stroke order and includes architectural terms related to each category, serving as a reference for non-professional readers. Each volume includes a chronology of major events in Chinese architecture, marked with color indicators for different historical periods. The chronology follows ancient Chinese traditional dating methods and includes corresponding Gregorian dates for reference.
