Features: Essentials of Classical Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory is one of the national planning teaching materials for the 15th Five-Year Plan of General Higher Education. The content primarily focuses on the essential parts of the Neijing (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) as the main thread, supplemented by selected passages from the Nanjing (Classic of Difficult Issues). Both the Neijing and the Nanjing are among the Four Great Classical Texts of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Neijing is one of the earliest and most complete classical medical texts preserved in China, reflecting the achievements of ancient medicine and establishing the theoretical system of Traditional Chinese Medicine, making it the cornerstone of classical TCM theory. The Nanjing, building upon the Neijing, made significant innovations, further enriching and deepening classical TCM theory. Although classical TCM theory has evolved over time, the achievements of the Neijing and the Nanjing remain unparalleled, earning them the status of the classics of medical theory and essential reading for all who study Traditional Chinese Medicine. To this day, TCM colleges and universities across China continue to use the Neijing as a mandatory advanced course in TCM foundational theory. Various editions of the nationally compiled textbook Selected Readings from the Neijing have played a vital role in interpreting the text and elucidating medical principles. This book adheres to the principles of conciseness and precision, aiming to accommodate interactive and discussion-based teaching methods. It leaves ample space for the exchange of ideas between teachers and students, as well as for the exploration and expression of students' thoughts. Therefore, some teaching content has been moved to the "Related Original Text Links," which increases flexibility for both teaching and learning while allowing for a greater volume of original texts within a smaller. This facilitates a more comprehensive and systematic understanding and mastery of classical theory. Additionally, the book includes "Exercises and Reflections" and "Supplementary Readings" to cultivate students' independent thinking skills and broaden their knowledge. An index of key terms and sentences is provided at the end for easy reference.
