Features: The Color Atlas of Airborne Pollen and Plants in China has finally been completed after two years of photography and writing. This book includes 63 families, 148 genera, and over 200 species of common airborne pollen and their corresponding plants from various regions in northern and southern China. Unlike similar books domestically and internationally, this book uses optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy to capture pollen particles from multiple perspectives. Additionally, the author ventured into the field to collect pollen samples and took close-up photographs of various plants in full bloom and pollination periods, with magnification to closely link flowers and pollen. This makes it easier to identify both pollen and plants. Combining practicality and aesthetics, it serves as a more suitable reference tool for allergy specialists, which was the original goal of our research.
Alergia (pollinosis) is a worldwide common and prevalent disease. China, with its vast territory and located in temperate and subtropical regions, boasts an extremely rich vegetation. Coupled with the rapid acceleration of urban greening in recent years, as well as the introduction and invasion of exotic plants, the types and quantities of airborne pollen particles have significantly increased, leading to a rising incidence of pollen allergies. The purpose of publishing this book is to provide first-hand data for clinical research on the etiology of pollen allergies and experimental studies on airborne allergenic pollen.
