Publish Date: 2003-09-01
Features: This book focuses on examining the impact of the introduction of foreign literary trends and fictional works on fiction theory and fiction writing, which is an issue that has not been fully explored in previous theoretical circles. It can be said that the fiction theory and fiction writing of each period are influenced by foreign literary trends and fictional works. For example, the leftist literary theory and revolutionary fiction theory and creation of the 1930s were influenced by Soviet literary theory and creation, while modernist theory and creation were influenced by the modernism of the West and the New Sensory School of Japanese fiction. Even in the 1940s, when fiction theory returned to national traditions, the influence of modernist theory still remained. Therefore, the integration of foreign and local elements has promoted the development of modern fiction theory and creation. This book conducts research on fiction theorists, focusing on both the theoretical criticism of fiction theorists and the theoretical criticism of fiction writers who are also fiction theorists, with a particular emphasis on exploring the theoretical criticism characteristics of Hu Shi, Lu Xun, Yu Dafu, Mao Dun, Lao She, Ba Jin, Zhou Yang, Hu Feng, Li Jianwu, Shen Congwen, and others, highlighting their individuality in fiction theory and criticism. For purely theoretical works on fiction, the book presents specific discussions on fiction theory concepts and fiction criticism in relevant chapters without separate reviews. This is where the book's value lies in highlighting key points and addressing difficult issues.
