Features: Minimalist gardens, which are increasingly popular for their emphasis on clean lines, abstract forms, and strong spatial sense. Especially in the midst of overly busy lives, people yearn to create a tranquil haven to rejuvenate their body and mind. Minimalist style also offers other advantages: it is suitable for small urban spaces and requires minimal maintenance. This inspiring illustrated work is a deeply thoughtful interpretation of minimalist gardens. Award-winning landscape designer Christopher Bradley-Hall has carefully selected the best minimalist gardens from urban and rural landscapes of all sizes around the world. He explores the creative inspiration behind each garden and analyzes how to combine an understanding of space and proportion with the clever and imaginative use of materials and plants. He shows us that the best gardens can organically integrate with their surrounding landscapes and neighboring homes. The book introduces the philosophy of minimalism and touches upon related fields such as architecture, interior design, and contemporary lifestyles. In the introduction, it also discusses how global trends have brought about a new, lighter, and more eco-conscious style of garden plant design (which perfectly complements modern garden design). The gardens in the book are introduced by theme, including extended residences, courtyard gardens, rooftop gardens and terraces, water features and water gardens, rural gardens, and landscape gardens. The book focuses on landscape designers and architects such as Tadao Ando, John Pawson, Charles Jencks, Martha Schwartz, and Seth Stein. The book also includes a practical plant and material appendix, introducing materials and over 100 architectural plants suitable for creating perfect minimalist gardens. Minimalist Gardens is a groundbreaking work filled with inspiration and innovation.
