Features: English proficiency is a key and challenging aspect of the doctoral entrance examination, and vocabulary is the foundation of English assessment. Although, in principle, the vocabulary assessment for doctoral entrance examinations does not extend beyond the Graduate English Teaching Syllabus, the actual examination has increased and strengthened the requirements for vocabulary, making it more flexible and difficult. To address this, the author has meticulously compiled 7500 Core Vocabulary for Doctoral Entrance English with Explanations, tailored to the needs of candidates and the characteristics of the doctoral entrance examination. The book highlights the following points in its compilation style, content, and functional features:
1. Key Word Selection: Based on an analysis of English test questions for doctoral entrance examinations over the past decade and the latest Graduate English Teaching Syllabus, we have identified 7,500 high-frequency core vocabulary words. These words are comprehensively explained from four assessment factors: "definitions," "collocations," "related words," and "differences." This provides candidates with a well-structured four-dimensional vocabulary learning space to efficiently and skillfully master vocabulary within limited time, ensuring success in the examination.
2. Combining Memorization and Practice: Memorization is the foundation of vocabulary learning, but application is the ultimate goal. To enable candidates to flexibly apply their vocabulary knowledge and adapt to the examination environment, we have selected over 4,000 authentic test questions from doctoral entrance examinations and other high-level English tests over the past decade, along with precise explanations. This allows candidates to reinforce their memory through practice, ensuring they are fully prepared to tackle the exam. It is worth noting that the book emphasizes "explanations for questions" rather than "explanations for every word," focusing on key and high-frequency vocabulary relevant to the examination.
3. Dual-Function Book: In addition to being a targeted and highly practical examination preparation book, it also serves as a comprehensive, multi-functional dictionary. Its arrangement follows the common format of dictionaries, with definitions that are thorough, accurate, and appropriate. It can largely meet the readers' needs for reference and correction during daily study and reading. This book combines knowledge, practicality, and real-world application, offering strong guidance for students preparing for doctoral entrance examinations. We hope it becomes a valuable assistant on the candidates' path to success. At the same time, we wish everyone the best in entering the university of their choice.
