Publish Date: 2004-10-01
Features: This book aims to demonstrate the contributions of the Seven Scholars of Jian'an to Jian'an literature and highlight their status in the development of Han Dynasty literature and the entire history of ancient Chinese literature through discussions on their creative achievements and literary styles. Therefore, the book remains centered on literary creation while avoiding narrowness and focusing only on individual trees without seeing the forest. It strives to place the writers within the historical development context and specific political and cultural environments for a realistic examination, while also considering the writers as whole individuals and their entire body of works. In terms of writer studies, it adheres to the scientific method of "knowing the person to understand the times," combining the writers' biographies to depict their social backgrounds and thereby revealing the motivations behind their literary achievements. In terms of work studies, it starts from the writers' entire body of works, examines the specific environments in which individual works were created, highly values the relevant discussions of predecessors and contemporary scholars, compares and verifies, and reasonably employs the "understanding the author's intentions by anticipating their thoughts" approach to deeply and uniquely grasp the writers' creative mindset and motivations, with the hope of achieving an in-depth understanding of their works. The main body of the book is divided into two parts. The book strives to let facts speak, combining "narration" with "argumentation," where "narration" serves to substantiate "argumentation," and "argumentation" guides "narration," aiming for practicality and logical coherence.
