Features: The Western Economics Cases is a series of case study textbooks in economics. During the compilation process of this series, the following characteristics are reflected:
First, in terms of topic selection, it demonstrates systematicity. While existing books may include case analyses of certain aspects, our goal is to systematically introduce case teaching in economics education. Therefore, this series covers a wide range of disciplines in economics teaching. In theoretical economics, it includes political economy and Western economics, among others; in applied economics, it covers finance, international trade, public finance (public economics), industrial economics, national economics (investment studies), labor economics, and cross-disciplinary fields such as social security, which have strong interdisciplinary connections.
Second, in terms of content, it emphasizes completeness. Each textbook in this series involves the main theories, principles, and knowledge of its respective discipline, with the layout and development of the content based on this foundation. It does not merely analyze a single issue but provides comprehensive case studies corresponding to the main principles of the disciplines involved.
Third, in terms of writing style, it reflects standardization. Each case study textbook in this series is written according to a unified framework and steps, including applicable theories and principles, a description of the case itself, analysis of the case, and related reflection questions. This aims to highlight the main themes, make the content clear and concise, and help readers organically integrate case discussions with theoretical principles.
Fourth, in terms of case materials, it demonstrates realism. Based on the construction of a case library, we select relatively complete, representative, and typical cases for organization, analysis, and writing. The case selection fully reflects the current state and development trends of the real economy. This book introduces Western economics through case studies, including: microeconomic cases such as the theory of equilibrium price, consumer demand theory, producer supply theory, market and price theory, etc.; and macroeconomic cases such as national income accounting, aggregate demand and aggregate supply, employment and unemployment, inflation and deflation, economic cycles, and macroeconomics under open conditions.
