Features: The "2005 MBA Joint Entrance Examination Syllabus" has adjusted the writing exam by eliminating the "summary of written materials" and emphasizing the assessment of two writing formats: (1) Argument Evaluation Analysis; (2) Persuasive Essays. In response to the new changes in the syllabus, this book has been carefully compiled with the in mind, introducing relevant knowledge while highlighting practical strategies and actionable advice. It aims to simplify abstract and complex issues, providing tangible assistance to candidates.
"Argument Evaluation Analysis" is a writing format that is quite unfamiliar to Chinese candidates. To address this, we have strengthened the guidance on this type of writing, outlining basic strategies and providing in-depth analysis of aspects such as topic review, brainstorming, structure, and language. Notably, we have summarized the ten major types of test questions and the "three-part-eight-paragraph" structure, which helps candidates improve their writing skills and proficiency quickly. The book also includes selected exemplary essays for candidates to study and learn from, offering insights into writing techniques and language expression.
"Persuasive Essays" are a crucial component of the writing exam and should not be overlooked. In Chapter 2, the book summarizes the writing patterns of MBA persuasive essays and provides candidates with rich and effective strategies.
Section 1 compiles the 12 past exam questions and proposes solving methods, emphasizing that "topic review + thesis statement = half the success." In terms of topic review methods, it introduces multi-dimensional thinking combined with dialectical thinking.
Section 2 discusses psychological and knowledge preparation for candidates before the exam, introducing the "dual transformation theory," criteria for evaluating writing proficiency, as well as knowledge on ideology (level), materials, language, and structure.
Section 3 focuses on key points for on-the-spot performance, emphasizing six steps: outlining, opening, emotional appeal, conclusion, and title, highlighting key areas and enhancing practicality.
Section 4 proposes six methods to overcome generalization, accompanied by sample essays.
Section 5 adds 12 moving factual arguments to help candidates understand what "impact" truly means.
In this revision, unnecessary content has been removed, and practical pre-exam material has been added, making the book more aligned with actual exam conditions and improving the logical flow of its chapters.
Writing reflects a person's overall cultural literacy. This is precisely why MBA, MPA (Public Administration Master), and other social exams uniformly include a writing component. Based on past experience, statistics from the annual MBA Joint Entrance Examination show that fewer than 1/10 of candidates achieve first-class writing scores, while the majority submit mediocre essays or mere patchworks that barely qualify as articles. Many candidates fail to enter the MBA program largely due to weak writing skills. This book provides candidates with a platform for MBA writing practice and preparation. By studying its content and completing the exercises as required, candidates are guaranteed to excel in the MBA writing exam.
