Second Unit: Comprehensive Technical Training in D-Tuning, G-Tuning, and F-Tuning Upper Position, consisting of 6 lessons and 36 scales, etudes, and pieces. This technical training can only be carried out after completing the comprehensive training in Unit D-Tuning Upper Position Bowing, Fretting, and Musical Notation relatively well. During the training, emphasis should be placed on the basic training of scales and positions. Additionally, the lessons on grace notes, vibrato, fast bowing, etc., should be performed steadily and meticulously, and only after meeting the required standards should the technical training of the next unit be carried out. The lessons generally do not skip.
Third Unit: Comprehensive Technical Training in D-Tuning, G-Tuning, and F-Tuning Middle Position and Position Shift Practice, consisting of 3 lessons and 22 scales, etudes, and pieces. Before practicing position shifts, it is essential to master the middle-position positions to avoid inaccuracies in pitch and mouthpiece placement after shifting. When practicing position shifts, it is crucial to master and apply the three types of shifting techniques and methods, as well as accurately analyze and grasp the practical application of shifting techniques in pieces. The completion of shifting lessons must be very proficient and solid, and the lessons generally do not skip.
Fourth Unit: Comprehensive Technical Training in Shifting to Middle Position, consisting of 9 lessons and 33 scales, etudes, and pieces. This unit includes important technical training such as vibrato, string glissando, staccato bowing, fast bowing, syncopated bowing, and connected staccato bowing. The progress of the course should not be too fast; steady and solid training is required to avoid technical errors and issues during training. In terms of piece performance, technical refinement, musical completeness, and a certain level of artistic expression are required. The arrangement of the lessons should be tailored to individual aptitude and flexible in application.
Fifth Unit: Comprehensive Training in Shifting to Lower Position, consisting of 3 lessons and 17 scales, etudes, and pieces. Comprehensive technical training should only be carried out after completing the training of lower-position positions. The comprehensive training in shifting to lower position should be performed very meticulously and solidly, avoiding the phenomenon of rushing for results. The practice and completion of scales, etudes, and pieces should all reach a high level of artistic quality and standard, enabling students to successfully and excellently complete all the lessons of this course and lay a solid foundation for their next round of basic erhu training.
