Features: China is a unified multi-ethnic and multilingual socialist country. The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government adhere to policies of ethnic equality and linguistic equality, and have always attached importance to the research and study of minority languages. Since the 1950s, the state has organized significant human, material, and financial resources to conduct extensive and in-depth research on minority languages, achieving remarkable results and discovering many new languages. Since the 1980s, the implementation of China's reform and opening-up policies and the adherence to a pragmatic and realistic ideological line have promoted the new prosperity and development of ethnic linguistic affairs, as well as opened up new perspectives and opportunities for ethnic linguistic research. During this period, ethnic linguistic researchers ventured into border areas, mountainous regions, and coastal islands, discovering a batch of little-known languages. These languages have small populations and are often overlooked, but they hold high scientific research value, especially those with dwindling speaker populations, which urgently require timely investigation to preserve these valuable linguistic materials. Starting in 1992, with the support of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the National Social Science Planning Institutions, systematic, in-depth, and comprehensive surveys were conducted on these languages one by one, yielding a series of research results. It was then decided to publish them in the form of the "Studies on Newly Discovered Languages of China" series. This book is one of the series.
