Features: Li Xiongcai was born on May 5, 1910, in Zhaoqing, Guangdong. At the age of 17, he entered the Chunshui Art Academy and studied painting under Mr. Gao Jianfu. In 1931, he graduated from the Guangzhou Liefeng Art School. In 1932, he traveled to Japan to study at the Tokyo Art School, majoring in Japanese painting, and returned to China in 1935. From 1941 to 1948, he traveled to Southwest and Northwest China for sketching. He has taught at Guangzhou Municipal Art School, Chongqing National Art College, Guangzhou Art College, South China People's Literary Arts College, and Central South Art College. He is currently a Lifetime Professor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and the Director of the Lingnan Painting Museum. In 2001, he was awarded the inaugural "Golden Color Achievement Award" by the state.
Li Xiongcai is skilled in landscape and flower-and-bird painting. His early work Two Pictures of Xiaoxiang at Night won the gold medal at the Belgian International Exposition. His representative works include Gazing at the Mountains, Forest, Wuhan Flood Control Map, Paintings Inspired by Chairman Mao's Poems, Flying Phoenix Waterfall, Rocky and Pine, Boating on Autumn River, Thunder in the Empty Mountains, and Eternal Green. He has held exhibitions across the country and hosted two exhibitions in Beijing in 1994 and 2001, respectively. He has traveled to the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand.
He has published works such as Li Xiongcai's Landscape Painting Spectrum, Li Xiongcai Art Collection, Li Xiongcai's Flower-and-Bird and Insects, Li Xiongcai and Liang Shixiong's Journey to Japan Painting Collection, Li Xiongcai's 80th Anniversary of Art Career Painting Collection, Li Xiongcai's Landscape and Flower-and-Bird, Li Xiongcai's Landscape Painting Collection, and Appreciating Li Xiongcai's Art.
