The book records approximately 20,000 plant species, including common forest, vegetation, and garden species, economically or scientifically valuable species, species widely distributed across more than two provinces or neighboring countries but only found in certain peripheral provinces in China, representative species of each genus, and common introduced and cultivated exotic species. The book is published in 13 volumes. This volume is the eighth, covering the Ulmaceae to the Clusiaceae. Each plant entry includes descriptions of morphology, distribution, and habitat, with some species also noting their primary uses. Each plant is accompanied by a morphological illustration and a county-level geographical distribution map. The illustrations include newly drawn ones, reproductions of original drawings from Illustrated Floras, and figures copied from previously published floras or journals, all annotated with the original artist's name or the source publication. Some plants are also accompanied by color plates.
