Features: The Romance of Wu Sangui, also known as The History of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, was not attributed to any author and was likely completed during the late Qing Dynasty. There are two stone-printed editions from the Shanghai Book Bureau in the Xuantong era (1911) and the Shanghai Huaming Book Bureau, both labeled as "Historical Fiction" on the title page. The book includes a preface and general notes, neither of which are signed or dated. It begins with eight illustrations and frontispieces. The editor referenced both versions for proofreading and editing, correcting discrepancies and inconsistencies with historical records where necessary. The text has been standardized, with some special characters retained in their ancient or variant forms. Additionally, 19 illustrations related to Wu Sangui, Li Chuangwang, and Ming-Qing novels have been added, integrating with the plot of the book. Although stylistically different, they are still excellent and vivid depictions. The Treasury of Chinese Rare Books is a collection of fictional works. In modern times, reprints of classical novels have become fashionable, as they are essential for leisure reading among the masses. Therefore, compiling this collection of novels has been no easy task.
