Arrangement Method: In the English-Chinese section, all entries are arranged in alphabetical order of English letters. In the Chinese-English section, all entries are arranged in the order of Pinyin. Characters with the same pronunciation and tone are arranged in the same order as in the Xinhua Dictionary. Entries that do not start with Chinese characters are listed together at the end in the following order: English letters, Arabic numerals, Roman numerals, and Greek letters. The English hyphen “-” is treated as a space and participates in sorting; the Chinese hyphen “-” is ignored and does not participate in sorting; “/” indicates “optional replacement”; “[]” indicates “optional omission,” with the text inside the brackets participating in sorting; when the case of the first letter can be either uppercase or lowercase, it is always lowercase. Plurals are used only when necessary; otherwise, singulars are used. “(Abbr.)” denotes “abbreviation,” and “(Full)” denotes “full form.”
