Features: Sun Jun originally resided in Siping, while I was also in Jilin at the time. On duty to select artworks, I covered various cities and counties; I once organized a provincial exhibition, introducing new talents, and vividly remember the meticulous brushwork figures coming from a girl in Siping. However, over more than two decades, the past is like smoke, and neither the works nor the people are remembered. In the late spring of the Dingchou year, I was suddenly invited for a visit. At first, I asked Cui Gong to make the introduction, and then I brought the paintings to his door. I shared the joys and sorrows of my studies, narrated the publication of the art collection, displayed the masterpieces on the desk, and sought a parallel prose preface. Moved by his fortieth birthday and his continuous progress, I recalled the past and happily took up the pen, briefly outlining my views and recording the details. As I wrote, I suddenly remembered his family’s devout practice of calligraphy, which goes: "For beginners, focus on balance; once balanced, strive for danger; after danger, return to balance. Initially, I only showed this; in the middle, I surpassed it; later, I achieved harmony. When harmony is achieved, both the person and the calligraphy grow old. This kind of aging is not about decline but the 'unconscious self-realization' of mastery."
