Features: This series of teaching materials features a wide range of topics and diverse genres, including articles that reflect the pulse of the times as well as excellent works introducing traditional culture; topics of interest to young people and works rich in intellectual depth. Each lesson consists of three short passages on related themes. Reading Passage 1 includes new vocabulary, annotations, word usage, expressions and sentence patterns, and exercises, forming the core of each lesson. Reading Passages 2 and 3 are supplementary reading materials, which can be flexibly used by teachers or for self-study by students after class. Both passages are followed by targeted reading exercises. In addition to the main text, each volume also includes two selected contemporary readings, covering the latest information and events from around the world, China, and Japan. Most of the content is closely related to daily life, technological advancements, and societal development. By reading these articles, students can learn and reflect on the Japanese expressions for new concepts and issues, enhancing the timeliness and informational value of their reading. Each volume features two appendices: Appendix 1 contains two sets of self-assessment tests, while Appendix 2 includes a master vocabulary list, word usage, expressions and sentence pattern index. The difficulty level of the materials is designed to transition from beginner to intermediate in the first and second volumes, gradually increasing in difficulty thereafter. The third volume marks the transition from intermediate to advanced, with a relatively gradual increase in difficulty. For teaching convenience, Volumes 1–4 are bundled with a single Teaching Reference Book for Japanese Extensive Reading, which primarily includes teaching guidelines, background knowledge, exercise answer keys, and translations of the reading passages. This series of teaching materials is also suitable for intermediate Japanese learners of various levels to expand their knowledge and improve their reading and analytical skills.
