Although the tourism industry in China has been thriving, public understanding of "cultural heritage tourism" remains limited, and there is little awareness of the role of cultural relics and historical sites in the tourism sector or the issues that need attention. Peking University Press has recently launched Chinese Cultural Heritage Tourism (edited by Zhu Yaoting), which elucidates the relationship between cultural heritage and the tourism industry. The book selects nine categories from key cultural relic protection units across the country, including ancient capitals, ancient palaces, temples, and altars, ancient Great Wall sections, ancient gardens, ancient tombs, ancient Buddhist temples, grottoes, and pagodas, ancient sacred mountains and Taoist temples, ancient local residences and villages, and modern and contemporary historical sites. It theoretically explains the formation, development, and unique characteristics of these cultural relics and historical sites, with a focus on analyzing their cultural connotations. When introducing specific cultural heritage sites, the book fully considers the authenticity and credibility of each site.
