Features: Guizheng was born in Suizhong County, Liaoning Province in 1951 and is of Manchu ethnicity. She is a member of the China Artists Association. She studied under professors Li Changbai in Nanjing, Yu Zhizhen and Tian Shiguang in Beijing. She graduated from and taught at the Fine Arts Department of Suzhou Silk Institute. Due to her unique experiences in learning and life, her works blend northern and southern artistic styles. The robustness and vigor of the north, as well as the elegance and brightness of the Jiangnan region, coexist and integrate in her art, forming a distinctive style. She emphasizes artistic conception and emotional expression, with the belief that "art speaks for the heart" being a characteristic and pursuit in her works. Building on tradition, she incorporates Western colors and techniques to enhance the emotional impact of her paintings. She has innovated in the techniques and expression of meticulous brushwork, gradually establishing her personal style. Her works Snowy Magpie and Morning were selected for the 7th and 8th National Fine Arts Exhibitions, respectively. Plum Blossoms with Sparrows and A Song Under Orchids are collected by the National Art Museum of China. She has created numerous paintings for Chinese embassies and institutions abroad, which have been presented as state gifts to foreign leaders and distinguished guests. In 1992 and 1993, she held two solo exhibitions in Taiwan, and in 1995, she held a solo exhibition in Paris, France. She has published works such as Guizheng's Paintings, Guizheng's Ink Wash Flowers, Guizheng's Ink Wash Flowers, Cold Beauty and Splendor—Zhang Guizheng, Zhang Guizheng—Modern Meticulous Brushwork of Birds and Flowers, Birds Collection, Zhang Guizheng Paints Birds, and Zhang Guizheng's Meticulous Brushwork—Lotus Series postcards. Additionally, she designed two sets of stamps jointly issued by China and other countries: Flowers and Rare Flowers. Her biography has been included in The World Chinese Fine Arts Masters Yearbook, and her work Plum Blossoms with Sparrows is featured in The Complete Collection of Modern Chinese Fine Arts—Birds and Flowers Volume.
