Features: To reveal the 27-year evolution of the (question-setting philosophy) and process of unified question-setting for the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao) in China to a wide range of candidates, teachers, researchers, and the public; to support the reform of Gaokao content and form; to conduct a thorough summary and study of the design outcomes of questions since the reform of the "3+X" subject system; to promote the scientificization and modernization of China's examination system, the research team of the "Gaokao Content, Form, and Ability Assessment" project has specially compiled this series of books. This series of books has the following characteristics:
1. Experts from the research team have carefully selected thousands of questions set in recent years, especially since 2000, to identify high-quality questions that are meaningful for selecting college freshmen and guiding secondary school teaching, accompanied by analytical text. The goal is to help readers understand the intent of the question-setters at the time.
2. Efforts have been made to select questions that are meaningful for expanding students' thinking. In the analysis and solutions, attention has been paid to cultivating students' scientific thinking methods. While preserving the original form of the questions, some analyses have been provided for individual questions where the scientific rationality was not entirely reasonable. During the compilation process, the research team received active support and enthusiastic suggestions from many experts, question-setters, and relevant individuals across the country, which not only made the book more rigorous but also enhanced its scientificity, enlightenment, and relevance.
