Features: This textbook was jointly compiled by 13 traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospitals and colleges in response to the spirit of the "Main and Deputy Editors Meeting for the 21st Century National TCM University Planning Textbooks," held in Beijing by the National Association of TCM Higher Education and the National Research Society for the Construction of TCM Textbooks in December 2001. It is primarily intended for five-year TCM and acupuncture (acupressure wrestling) students in TCM universities. The textbook is divided into three parts: the Upper Part, the Lower Part, and the Appendix, comprising a total of 12 chapters. The Upper Part is the General Theory, including Introduction, the Relationship Between the Ears, Nose, and Throat and the Zang-Fu Organs and Meridians, an Overview of the Etiology and Pathogenesis of Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases, Key Points in the Diagnosis of Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases, and an Overview of the Treatment of Ear, Nose, and Coffee Diseases. It serves as the framework of the book and covers the basic theoretical aspects of TCM otolaryngology. The Lower Part is the Specific Theory, discussing diseases of the ears, nose, and throat in detail. For each disease, it includes an Overview, Etiology and Pathogenesis, Diagnosis, Differentiation and Treatment, Prevention and Care, Prognosis and Nursing, and References. These are the key topics to be emphasized in teaching. The Appendix provides related knowledge, introducing the applied anatomy and physiology of the ears, nose, and throat, common examination methods for the ears, nose, and throat, common treatment procedures in otolaryngology, and the TCM anatomical names of the ears, nose, and throat.
