Features: Tsinghua University Press proudly presents the Chinese translation of the monumental work Mexican Muralists: Orozco, Rivera, Siqueiros, a comprehensive and illustrated masterpiece by the distinguished Canadian artist and scholar, Dr. Desmond Rochfort. He currently serves as the President of the Alberta College of Art and Design in Canada. Mr. Rochfort wholeheartedly supported the translation and publication of the Chinese edition and specially wrote an insightful Preface for Chinese readers. The translator of this book is my PhD student, Xiang Guanghong. The entire book contains approximately 170,000 words and features 244 images, essentially encompassing the representative masterpieces of the "Big Three" muralists. To the best of my knowledge, the publication of a large-scale collection on the Mexican Muralist Movement in China is a first, and it deserves celebration. Mr. Rochfort is not only an outstanding scholar of the history of the Mexican Mural Movement but also a highly accomplished practitioner of modern mural creation. Standing at the height of history, he examines the mural works of the "Big Three," thereby uncovering their ideological and artistic characteristics and providing readers with a golden key to interpret these murals. At the same time, he analyzes the murals of the "Big Three" with the discerning insight of an expert, offering penetrating and precise critiques that avoid superficial and irrelevant arguments, making them highly enlightening for contemporary mural creation. Another notable feature of this work is that the author randomly distributes the representative works of the "Big Three" throughout the corresponding chapters. This arrangement allows readers to both enhance their theoretical understanding and conveniently view the original works, creating a complementary effect that makes the book exceptionally valuable.
