Features: The importance of reading in English learning is undeniable. In the English Curriculum Standards issued by the Ministry of Education, the significance of reading is placed in a prominent position, with detailed regulations on basic reading skills and reading volume. Through research on English examination papers for the recent years' Zhongkao (senior high school entrance exam) and Gaokao (university entrance exam), it is not difficult to find that the weight of reading has been increasing year by year. Diverse Genres Narrative texts are the foundation of English learning, while expository and applied texts have become popular in recent Zhongkao and Gaokao exams. The appropriate use of applied genres such as invitations, checks, and official documents is a distinctive feature of this series.
