Features: The "Harsanyi Collected Papers on Game Theory" consists of 12 game theory papers published by the American economist and Nobel laureate in Economics, John Harsanyi, from 1956 to 1980. It essentially reproduces the trajectory of Harsanyi's academic research and thought, while also representing, to some extent, the development of game theory. The book covers a broad field of game theory, with the main thread being the generalization of game solutions to form a unified solution theory, thereby producing a single solution for both cooperative and non-cooperative games. Harsanyi's outstanding contributions to incomplete information games laid the foundation for the development of information economics. This collection includes 12 of my papers on game theory, published between 1956 and 1980. This collection supplements my works "On Ethics, Social Behavior, and Scientific Explanation," published by Reidel in 1976, and "Rational Behavior and Bargaining Equilibrium in Games and Social States," published by Cambridge University Press in 1977. The 12 papers discuss a wide range of topics in game theory. However, they are united by a common intellectual thread: these papers all attempt to generalize and combine the numerous solution concepts in game theory into a unified solution theory. It is this unified solution theory that produces a single solution for both cooperative and non-cooperative games, and it also includes solutions for "non-classical" games, such as incomplete information games. Target Audience: Undergraduate and graduate students in economics, economists, and scholars with an interest in game theory.
