Darwin: The Theory of Love Focusing on the Healing of the New Century

Author: David Loye

Publish Date: 2004-11-01
Features: In the public's preconceived notions, Darwin's theory of evolution presents a world ruled by blind chance and survival of the fittest: selfish genes, survival competition, and the survival of the fittest. In the book, the author allows us to see another Darwin: a visionary thinker who emphasized the role of love and morality in the process of evolution. Therefore, the author advocates for a moral governance from the very root, i.e., at the biological level, and firmly believes that correcting the public's biases against Darwin and his theory of evolution is of immense significance for human survival in the 21st century. The book expresses exactly what Darwin himself wanted to convey. This is a remarkable voice that resonates with those who wish to achieve scientific breakthroughs and have a visionary perspective on human evolution. Darwin, in his long-neglected works, denies what is today known as the Darwinian tradition that has been attached to him. While reaffirming the fundamental theories in On the Origin of Species and the core theories centered on natural selection and variation, he adds two astonishing starting points. The book's brief "appendix" will take readers into an exciting new world, offering a concise introduction to the new findings of some new organizations exploring evolution. I particularly want to mention my good friend—system philosopher Ervin Laszlo—we co-founded the General Evolution Research Group together. This group is composed of biologists, physicists, astrophysicists, mathematicians, systems scientists, neuroscientists, social scientists, computer scientists, psychologists, historians, philosophers, chaos theorists, feminist theorists, and management theorists. These inheritors of the new Darwin, coming from Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Belgium, Chile, China, Finland, Hungary, Russia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, and the United States, are currently dedicated to developing an evolution that meets the needs of the times. This book is an independent work, representing only my personal research findings and conclusions. However, I want to credit the inspiration, ideas, and main materials to certain members of the General Evolution Research Group and other members of more scientists' groups who are striving to establish a better and more practical theory of evolution.
