This book includes 558 common medicinal plants found in southern China, belonging to 128 families and 389 genera, arranged in accordance with the Engler system of plant classification by family and genus, in a picture-text format. Each medicinal plant consists of two parts: text and color photographs. The text descriptions include: plant characteristics, medicinal parts, properties and meridian tropism, therapeutic functions, main active components, dosage, usage notes, and growth environments. It should be noted that due to space constraints, only the more commonly used medicinal parts of the same plant are described in terms of properties and functions. By learning the identification knowledge of each medicinal plant included in this book, readers can also easily acquire related medicinal knowledge. Additionally, the book utilizes numerous high-quality professional images to comprehensively and accurately depict the morphological features and identification characteristics of common southern medicinal plants, showcasing their beauty and diversity. Therefore, this academically rigorous teaching reference book also possesses high ornamental value. The nearly 2,000 color photographs used throughout the book are mostly taken from the medicinal plant garden of Guangdong Chemical and Pharmaceutical Vocational and Technical College and the Guangdong Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
