This book tells the brilliant and simple life of Zhu De, one of the founders of the People's Liberation Army and an old-generation proletarian revolutionary leader. The book selects dozens of small stories from Zhu De's long revolutionary career, starting from his impoverished youth, and provides a detailed account of his pursuit of light, his involvement in the revolution, the Nanchang Uprising, the Jinggang Mountains Meeting, his participation in the Long March, and his outstanding achievements in leading the People's Liberation Army to liberate all of China during the War of Resistance against Japan and the War of Liberation. While describing historical facts, the book emphasizes Zhu De's lofty spirit as a revolutionary and military leader—his determination, courage, wit, and fearlessness. It also highlights his humble, loyal, selfless, and approachable personality traits.
