Qin Wenjun, a renowned children’s literature writer, was born in Shanghai in 1954. She is a member of the National Committee of the Writers Association of China and the Vice President of the Shanghai Writers Association. She also serves as the Chief Editor of the China Welfare Institute Publishing House. Since 1982, she has published over 4 million words of works. Her major works include the novels The Story of a Colorful Girl, The Complete Tale of a Boy Named Jia Li, The Complete Tale of a Girl Named Jia Mei, The Soul of a Girl, No. 3 Tian Tang Street, The Autobiography of Liu Ge Shi, a Teenager, The Mischievous Days, Escape, A Teenage Girl, the Klara Klara Dog Series, and the Little Xianggu Series, among others.
Qin Wenjun’s works have won over 40 awards, including the “Five One Project” Award from the Ministry of Culture, the National First Prize for Excellent Children’s Literature, the Children’s Literature Award from the Writers Association of China, the China Children’s Literature Award, the Children’s Literature Gardener Award, the Shanghai Literary and Artistic Excellence Achievement Award, the National Broomflower Children’s Literature Gold Award from the Ministry of Culture, the Yang Huan Children’s Literature Award from Taiwan, and the Jiuge Literature Award from Taiwan. In October 2002, she was nominated for the International Hans Christian Andersen Award in Switzerland.
Over ten of her works, such as The Boy Jia Li, The Girl Jia Mei, A Family of Clowns, and The Happy Girl, have been published overseas, with some translated into English, German, and Japanese. More than ten of her novels, including The Boy Jia Li, The Family Takes Over, A Family of Clowns, and The Mischievous Days, have been adapted into films and television dramas.
Qin Wenjun’s works are wildly popular in schools and deeply loved by readers.
