Features: GB7258 specifies the basic technical requirements and inspection methods for the safety of motor vehicles, their main assemblies, and safety protection devices, as well as environmental protection requirements and additional requirements for fire engines, ambulances, engineering rescue vehicles, and police vehicles. It applies to all motor vehicles operating on roads in China. GB7258 was first formulated in 1987, revised in 1997, and secondly revised in 2004. The current version is GB7258—2004, which was issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine and the State Administration for Standardization on July 12, 2004, and implemented nationwide from October 1, 2004. To enable users to correctly understand and implement GB7258—2004, as requested by the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, the Technical Committee of Standardization for Road Traffic Management of the Ministry of Public Security organized personnel to write the book "Understanding and Implementation of GB7258—2004 ". "Understanding and Implementation of GB7258—2004" explains each clause of the GB7258—2004 standard and includes 31 of the 33 standards referenced in GB7258—2004, as well as relevant laws and regulations on motor vehicle safety management. It serves as a reference tool for motor vehicle safety management personnel to correctly understand and implement GB7258—2004. However, due to space limitations, the book does not include other standards related to motor vehicle safety management, such as basic standards on vehicle types (terms and definitions), vehicle quality (vocabulary and codes), vehicle dimensions, and related standards on motor vehicle emissions and noise control, as well as technical conditions for the calibration of motor vehicle safety inspection equipment. Therefore, to better enable motor vehicle safety inspection personnel to implement GB7258—2004 during motor vehicle safety inspections, we organized personnel to write this compilation. This compilation is applicable to technical personnel engaged in motor vehicle safety inspection and motor vehicle safety management, and can also be used as a reference by motor vehicle manufacturers. It is recommended to be used in conjunction with "Understanding and Implementation of GB7258—2004".
