This book is compiled according to the requirements of the National Professional English Proficiency Examination Syllabus and incorporates vocabulary from the College English Test Band 4 and Band 6, including approximately 7,000 English words and phrases for use by candidates for intermediate and advanced professional English exams. For word processing, this book not only indicates the part of speech and meaning of each word but also provides phonetic transcriptions, as we know that correctly mastering word pronunciation greatly aids memory, while also being convenient for readers.
For English vocabulary learning, we have always advocated the approach of learning and memorizing every day. Practice has proven this to be a successful learning method. It allows us to make progress daily, accumulate small gains, and achieve great results through collective efforts. To support and complement this method, we have designed the book with a compact size, making it easy to carry and allowing readers to open it anytime for quick revision.
In terms of printing, we have adopted a two-color printing method, coloring the parts that need to be memorized. This visual stimulation helps deepen the impression, representing our attempt to apply color principles to vocabulary memorization. Building on this, we have also introduced the use of colored plastic sheets as an auxiliary tool for memorizing English vocabulary. By placing a colored plastic sheet over the items to be memorized, we utilize the principle of color matching to conceal them, thereby achieving the goals of memorization, review, and self-checking. Another advantage of using colored plastic sheets is that they help in self-testing. Typically, one relies on others to test their memory of a word or phrase, but with the colored plastic sheets provided in this book, readers can test themselves anytime, anywhere. Thus, colored plastic sheets serve multiple learning functions and represent a new method for English vocabulary learning, developed through our long-term exploration.
This book is an extension of the successfully launched Middle School English Vocabulary Memorization Pocket Guide. It has introduced a new product line, including 9 volumes: Gaokao Vocabulary, College Entrance Examination Vocabulary, Professional English Vocabulary, College English Test Band 4 Vocabulary, College English Test Band 6 Vocabulary, Postgraduate Entrance Exam Vocabulary, MBA Vocabulary, TOEFL Vocabulary, and GRE Vocabulary. These new products retain the original features of being compact and convenient. They use two-color printing, color-coding the items to be memorized, and reintroduce the magical red plastic sheets, thereby combining memorization with self-testing. Additionally, they include related synonyms and antonyms, helping to solve the common problem faced by many English learners of forgetting what they have memorized.
