Features: This textbook can be used by non-mechanical majors in science and engineering colleges during the practical teaching of mechanical manufacturing. These majors include chemistry, petroleum, mining, metallurgy, etc. The content can be adjusted according to specific teaching conditions and professional needs. To complement the use of this textbook, the author has also developed a theoretical examination software and question bank for the practical teaching of mechanical manufacturing. It is hoped that exchanges can be made with colleagues from various universities, and suggestions and advice are welcome. With the reform of teaching, there have been significant adjustments in teaching modules. Notably, the sequence of course settings has been adjusted. Some schools arrange the practical teaching of mechanical manufacturing in the first year, which means that mechanical manufacturing teaching comes before related courses such as engineering drawing. This reform is based on the idea of first recognizing practice before teaching related courses, aligning with the teaching philosophy of "practice before theory." However, this clearly increases the teaching load of the practical teaching module. When students enter this practical teaching module, they have almost no knowledge of mechanical manufacturing, which is even more pronounced in non-mechanical majors. Another feature of the teaching reform is the compression of traditional teaching time. Previously, the practical teaching of mechanical manufacturing for non-mechanical majors in various schools usually lasted three weeks, but now it has been compressed to two weeks, or even just one week, to accommodate the needs of newly added courses. Therefore, it requires completing teaching tasks with high quality and quantity in a shorter time, which also puts great pressure on the practical teaching of mechanical manufacturing.
To address the above issues, this textbook is written from the perspective of a beginner, using concise and easy-to-understand language to clearly explain the essential knowledge of the practical teaching of mechanical manufacturing. It also incorporates knowledge relevant to the specific characteristics of these non-mechanical majors. Additionally, to keep pace with the rapid development of modern manufacturing technology and industry, the textbook also introduces CNC machining technology.
