Features: This textbook is compiled for the study and assessment of the "China's Foreign Trade" course in higher vocational education for international trade majors. During the compilation process, we referred to the examination syllabus for the "China's Foreign Trade" course organized by the National Higher Education Self-Tuition Examination Guidance Committee, as well as the diploma examination syllabus for the "China's Foreign Trade" course in Beijing. We also used the assessment criteria of knowledge points and competency levels set by the Higher Vocational Education at the University of International Business and Economics for similar courses, reflecting the characteristics and teaching objectives of higher vocational education. "China's Foreign Trade" is one of the important professional basic theoretical courses in the field of international trade. On one hand, this course introduces the basic theories, policies, and development strategies of China's foreign trade from a macro perspective. On the other hand, it emphasizes the practical operation aspects of knowledge teaching in line with the goals of higher vocational education, making it a comprehensive international trade professional basic course that closely integrates theory and practice. Compared to other similar textbooks, the distinctive features of this textbook are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
First, timeliness. The data cited in the textbook are mostly updated to 2003, and it covers the new development dynamics of China's foreign trade, such as changes in foreign trade management since China's entry into the World Trade Organization, as well as the main content of the "Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China," which took effect on July 1, 2004.
Second, innovative format. The textbook includes supplementary materials called "Small Notes" to provide concise background knowledge. This format does not increase students' learning burden but significantly enriches the textbook's information, helping students grasp the course content from both "vertical" (deepening knowledge understanding) and "horizontal" (expanding related knowledge) perspectives.
Third, concise and focused. The textbook's organization highlights the internal logical relationships of the content, with explanations and analyses kept brief. Each chapter is accompanied by "Chapter Summary," "Key Concepts," and "Discussion Questions" to help students summarize and refine the core knowledge points of the chapter, which can then be reinforced through exercises. The textbook has been revised multiple times based on teaching practice to meet the learning needs of students at different levels. It is suitable for students majoring in international trade.
