Features: Since the invention of the ruby laser in 1960, people have begun exploring tunable laser media. In the mid-1960s, P.P. Sorokin and F.P. Sch?fer invented dye lasers, achieving continuous tunable laser operation from the near-ultraviolet to the near-infrared spectral region. In the following nearly 20 years, liquid dye lasers held a dominant monopoly position in the field of tunable lasers. It wasn't until the early 1980s that P.F. Moulton invented the solid-state titanium-doped sapphire laser, which began to break the monopoly of dye lasers in tunable laser technology. This marked the entry of tunable lasers into a new stage of development, moving toward solidification and fully solid-state systems. The early development of dye lasers laid a solid foundation for the advancement of tunable laser technology, with its fundamental theories and main technologies having become largely mature. As a result, solid-state tunable lasers quickly gained rapid development and a trend emerged where solid-state tunable lasers were replacing liquid dye lasers.
