Features: This series of books is a major project under the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" of the National Language Commission, focusing on the research and development of the "Standardized Chinese Character Table." The findings of Chinese character experts from all over the country on several key issues of Chinese character standardization were compiled during this process. The articles in the first three volumes were selected from the papers and presentations at the "Academic Symposium on Variant Characters," "Academic Symposium on Simplified Characters," and "Academic Symposium on Printed Chinese Character Forms," held in 2002. To enhance the academic value of these three collections, we have also selected some outstanding papers published in this field over the past decade. The fourth volume, "Diverse Perspectives," consists of commissioned articles written by experts in linguistics and Chinese character studies, invited by the research team during the development of the character table. The authors of each article in the series are experts in the field of Chinese character standardization, and the selected papers share the common characteristics of being targeted and substantive. Collectively, they cover various aspects of variant characters, simplified characters, and printed Chinese character forms, reflecting the latest achievements in China's Chinese character standardization efforts.
