Features: Jing Fang was a famous scholar and I Ching expert during the Western Han Dynasty, styled Junming, originally named Li. He adopted the surname Jing after determining his pitch by blowing a lute, gaining fame for his ability to predict disasters and anomalies. Under the influence of Dong Zhuo's promotion of Confucianism, Jing Fang explored the multifaceted connections between the I Ching, society, and nature. He attempted to establish an I Ching cosmic model and a model, aiming to create a framework for the interconnectedness of all things in the universe or between heaven and earth. He also sought to explain and predict events and trends based on the models he might develop. To facilitate systematic and in-depth study of Jing Fang's I Ching, the book is divided into three parts: "Interpretation of Jing Fang's I Ching Commentary," the three-volume "Jing Fang's I Ching Commentary" from the Wenyuan Pavilion edition of the "Siku Quanshu," and the eight-volume "Jing Fang's I Ching." Through an examination of the extant materials of Jing Fang, the book constructs a systematic framework of his academic thought, introduces his life, clarifies the principles of Jing Fang's I Ching, and explains its academic influence on later generations. The main contents include: the theory of hexagram qi, astrological divination and disaster prediction, musical theory, wind acoustics, and the method of assessing officials' performance. Jing Fang's I Ching also influenced the theory, imagery, numerology, and divination of later I Ching studies, among other aspects.
