Features: Since its publication in 2001, "New Helper for Mathematical Advancement and Competition" has been widely welcomed by readers across the country due to its forward-thinking reflection of new concepts in mathematical education, its practicality in aligning with students' learning development, and its unique use of open and interactive writing methods. It has sold hundreds of thousands of copies and has become a "good helper" for teachers and students in teaching and learning. It has been successively awarded as "Top Ten Influential Books in Hubei Province in 2001" and "National Bestselling Book of 2002." In recent years, with the promulgation of the "National Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education," people's understanding of mathematical education and mathematical learning has undergone significant changes. Curriculum reform and examination question setting are in a critical period of transformation. To reflect these changes and better serve teachers' teaching and promote the improvement of students' mathematical literacy, the editors have revised this series of books in the following two aspects:
1. Reflecting the new curriculum standards concepts. During the revision process, guided by the "National Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education," the editors aimed to highlight the new concepts of mathematical education and mathematical learning, namely: mathematics provides language, ideas, and methods for other sciences; mathematics plays a unique role in enhancing reasoning, abstract thinking, imagination, and creativity; the content of mathematical learning is real, meaningful, and challenging, and effective mathematical learning activities cannot rely solely on imitation and memorization. Hands-on practice, independent exploration, and cooperative communication are important ways of learning mathematics.
2. Replacing more than one-third of the examples and exercises. During the revision process, the original examples and exercises were screened, and new ones were added based on the principles of novelty, inspiration, and guidance. Excellent competition questions and middle school examination questions from various parts of the country since 2001 were supplemented, such as context-based questions that advocate mathematical application, open-ended questions that leave space for students to think actively, exploratory questions that guide students to investigate, innovative questions that examine students' potential for development, and interdisciplinary problems that focus on cultivating comprehensive abilities. These reflect, to some extent, the new characteristics of examination question setting and shed light on the new concepts of curriculum reform.
